Friday's Food for Thought

Micah 6:8 says, "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

Is this verse speaking to you today? I know it is speaking to me.

Camping Out

Several women in our church attended the Women of Joy conference in Branson last weekend. We heard many great speakers including Priscilla Shirer. She touched on many key points during her study, but one in particular really stuck out and has hung back with me. I feel that it is really important that I share it with you in hopes that it will speak to you as well.

The "ah-ha" moment revolves around Exodus 19, especially verses 9-11 where it says, "And the Lord said to Moses, 'Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever.' So Moses told the words of the people to the Lord. Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes. And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.'"

God gives us two basic principles in this passage that He wants us to focus on...seeing and hearing. He commands us to "camp" or be still and wait for Him...wait to hear and see Him. Camp in the season...the season that we are in. Be still in the season...the season we are in.

Sometimes God wants us to go through the season that we are in completely without fast-forwarding to the next one. There are lessons to be learned, voices to be heard, things to be seen and often times the only way these things will occur is if we be still.

What do you think about this? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below. If you do not have a blog, you may leave your comment as an "Anonymous" profile.

Friday's Food for Thought

Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

No damper here

Yesterday we celebrated Easter complete with thunder, lightning and rain (lots and lots of rain). Easter egg hunts were brought inside, families outside activities were put on hold and temperatures brought out cooler-weather clothing.

But, guess what? It didn't change the glory that yesterday beheld.

Jesus is not in the grave!

Jesus arose!

Jesus is alive!

Isn't that amazing? Isn't it glorious? Isn't it wonderful?

Not just anyone could accomplish such feats...it took a Saviour to make it all happen. It took a God who loved us, a Son who sacrificed for us and a love that outlasts any other.

Psalm 111:9 says, "He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is his name."

He redeemed us and made a covenant with us that never ends...I have not the words to describe how that makes me feel.

Holy and awesome is His name!

Direction

Where are you in life?

What direction does God have you heading?

Is it comfortable?

Is it the direction you thought you would be going?

Was it hard to trust?

If we all are honest with ourselves and each other, we can easily say that following God's direction and having faith and trust in going the way He would have us go is not always easy. It can hurt...can be uncomfortable...can cause us to change.

Do we like change? Do we like to hurt? Do we like to be uncomfortable?

But we must trust Him...we must change if His direction warrants...we must move on even if it isn't comfortable. Why?

His way is the only way. His way is the right way.

If you don't believe me, read Deuteronomy 13:4 where it is written, "It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him."

I don't see any other way. I will follow Him. Will you?

What's Up Wednesday

A new series is starting today here at Woman 2 Woman. It's called "What's Up Wednesday" and will detail the happenings of the Women's ministry at FBC, Booneville.

This series will be one that will take involvement from everyone. If there's something going on in the church that you want everyone to know about, let me know and it will be featured here.

Today's "What's Up Wednesday" post features the Women of Joy conference that is coming up in a few weeks. If you have signed up to go, but have not paid all of your money, please, please, please do so as soon as possible. It is imperative that the money be paid.

I also ask that you begin praying for all that will be attending the conference. I know that it is going to be a wonderful weekend and one that is completely God-filled.

2 Corinthians 13:14 says, "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." This is what I intend to be a part of at Women of Joy.
